Liberty maintains a crew of 25 to 30 carpenters and apprentices that are responsible for a variety of tasks during the construction process. As a recent high school graduate, you would qualify for our apprentice program.

Participants in the apprentice program will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain significant on-the-job experience in the construction industry
  • Achieve national certification as a carpenter through a local post-secondary program
  • Earn a wage that directly reflects your commitment to your career

Program Structure
Year 1 Apprentices will be hired for a one year evaluation period. This will allow Liberty Homes to evaluate the employee’s potential as well as give the employee time to determine their interest in the trade.

Years 2–5 Selected candidates will be offered sponsorship in a carpentry apprentice program through a local post-secondary institution. The current four year program includes six weeks (720 hours) of classroom time per year with the remainder of the time spent on the construction site with Liberty (a minimum of 5,000 hours). Sponsorship is conditional on the employees’ ability to successfully pass each level.

Year 6+ Journeyman carpenters will have the option of returning to Liberty Homes to continue a challenging and rewarding career.

Thanks to innovations in high school carpentry and construction programs, some candidates will have had the opportunity to complete the educational component of their Level 1 apprenticeships prior to graduation. Liberty recognizes and values this type of initiative.

Starting Compensation Package
While wage scales fluctuate with economic conditions, new hires can expect to earn a highly competitive salary that directly reflects their individual level of commitment. Rates of salary progression and bonuses will vary based on performance. Work hours are flexible, and most employees choose to contribute well beyond the standard industry time requirements.

Future Opportunities
While incomes are attractive, the true value of the apprenticeship program lies in the potential to generate one’s own capital. Previous graduates have gone on to build their own houses, start their own trades and assume managerial positions within our company. These opportunities will expand as Liberty grows and moves into new markets.
